Packsize International Honored As 2015 Global Pacesetter Of The Year

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah; May 12, 2015 — Salt Lake City-based Packsize International LLC was honored today as Utah’s “Global Pacesetter of the Year” for its success in exporting at Zions Bank’s 14th annual International Trade and Business Conference.

The award was announced before an audience of nearly 900 business leaders from across the Intermountain West at the Grand America Hotel.

Hanko Kiessner, Founder of Packsize, has positioned his company as the worldwide leader in On Demand Packaging® systems, services and software solutions at a time when swift growth in online sales has driven demand for shipping products.

Packsize resolves inventory and shipping complexities through the ability to create a custom-sized box for every order. Companies using On Demand Packaging® today significantly save on their corrugated costs. By right-sizing their packaging, customers can eliminate void fill, increase handling and transportation efficiencies, while reducing unnecessary space in the container. Through its focus on Smart Packaging for a Healthy Planet®, Packsize helps its clients reduce their carbon footprints through fewer planes and trucks, and less material use.

Founded in Utah in 2002, Packsize has expanded to serve customers through operations in North America, Scandinavia, Germany, and the United Kingdom. Along the way, Zions Bank has kept pace with Packsize’s growth, offering unique financing solutions and flexibility that has enabled the company to expand faster.

Previous Global Pacesetter Awards have been presented to a variety of local businesses demonstrating international success: Parker International, Ultradent, Black Diamond Equipment Ltd., Merit Medical Systems, Ancestry.com, Albion, Jas. D. Easton Inc., Connor Sport Court International, and Savage Companies.

Packsize is among other Utah companies growing overseas. In 2014, Utah exported goods in excess of $12.3 billion, according to World Trade Center Utah. Of the 3,475 companies that exported from Utah locations in 2012, 86 percent were small- to medium-sized businesses with fewer than 500 employees. These firms generated more than one-sixth (16.5 percent) of Utah’s total exports of merchandise in 2012, according the latest available data from the U.S. Department of Commerce International Trade Administration.

“Through the Global Pacesetter Award, we salute Packsize for its packaging innovations that have global appeal,” said Zions Bank President and CEO Scott Anderson. “We commend Hanko Kiessner for his foresight in expanding the reach of his unique products to foreign markets.”
